After a 3 week hiatus, Toronto based developer Dr. James McCrae is back with release 42.8 of his popular virtual reality program janusVR. The latest patch which is mysteriously code-named ‘Rocky’, includes a bunch of bug fixes and improvements, and marks a turning point in the development of the project.
Improvements and fixes in the latest update include:
- Refactored collision detection code, 10x performance increase (55 FPS -> 550 FPS), with testing using the room http://leon.vrsites.com/1/753
- Temporarily removed the room deallocation to improve stability
- Refactored code relating to sending packets for room entry, to fix issues with sometimes not being able to see other users
