Merge Virtual Reality announced today a new lower price for the Merge VR headset online and in stores across the United States, as it prepares to enter more than 250 GameStop stores this week. The purple virtual reality headset will retail for US$79.99 and works universally with Apple and Android phones of various sizes.
“We are excited to add the Merge VR Goggles to GameStop’s collection of virtual reality products,” said Eric Bright, senior director of merchandising at GameStop. “Merge VR brings virtual reality to millions of smartphone owners. Its durability, affordability, and accessibility to hundreds of already available apps makes Merge VR easy for anyone to use.”
Market growth continues to be strong for the San Antonio-based company. “Merge VR has experienced huge sales momentum that has propelled us on to U.S. retail shelves, and this is just the beginning,” said Co-founder Andrew Trickett. “It’s really exciting to make virtual reality simple for consumers as the technology goes mainstream. Our high-quality, universal headset is a great way for people to explore VR using the smartphones they already own.”
In addition to GameStop stores and GameStop.com, the headsets are currently available at MergeVR.com, Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, B&H Photo (bhphotovideo.com), NewEgg.com, and in the UK at 320 GAME retail stores as well as GAME.co.uk.
