‘Fire’ Lets You Export Blender Models Direct To VR

Fire is a newly released Blender addon that allows users to export the current scene to the JanusVR ‘FireBox’ HTML format, effectively turning Blender into a one-click virtual reality room creator, and Blend Swap into a virtual reality asset store.

The exciting new addon, announced only this week via reddit,  generates the XML description of the room automatically, exporting the objects as either .obj or .dae, and makes the room ‘ready’ for virtual reality.

New function highlighted in red, the model is ‘Beam Runner City with Track’ by turnpike101 from Blender Swap

Fire is still very much pre-alpha, but it already has the ability to work with IPFS, and provide instant publication of the room over the IPFS network, with no server needed.

IPFS is a new hypermedia distribution protocol, addressed by content and identities. IPFS enables the creation of completely distributed applications. IPFS is an open source project developed by the team at Interplanetary Networks and many contributors from the open source community.
