“Ruckus Ridge,” the first local multiplayer party game released for Oculus Rift, will launch on online stores in early 2016, virtual reality studio ForeignVR announced on December 8th, 2015. Available to all current and future Oculus Rift and HTC Vive developers or consumer owners, “Ruckus Ridge” pits one Oculus-wearer against up to 3 friends who control characters using traditional controllers.
Created by indie game studio ForeignVR, the game is the first multiplayer party game for the Oculus Rift and features several game modes sure to immerse viewers into the world of virtual reality. The release of “Ruckus Ridge” will likely precede the Oculus Rift launch, making it the ideal game for early adopters who want to play VR games with friends that don’t own the hardware yet.
“Ruckus Ridge” gameplay includes several game modes, power ups, and adjustable settings for users to create their own game modes. Players take turns using the VR headset, while couch players control characters in the virtual world using traditional controllers and view the action from a top-down perspective on a TV or computer screen. Although additional controllers are required to play, “Ruckus Ridge” offers a free companion gamepad app, allowing all users to play, no strings attached, via their smartphones.
“Ruckus Ridge” will be available to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive developer kit owners early 2016.
